Two women report sexual assault on 16th and 11th avenues Sunday morning

Ohio State issued a neighborhood safety warning Monday after two off-campus sexual assault incidents involving a man in American flag shorts Sunday morning.

A woman sleeping in her car around 4:30 a.m. Sunday behind 16th Avenue reported that a man with long hair and a beard entered the vehicle and made sexual advances on her before fleeing the scene.

Another report was filed later in the day by a female student who was groped by an unknown middle-aged man around 9:30 a.m. in the alley between 11th and Chittenden avenues while walking her dog.

Both women described the assailant as a white middle-aged man with long hair wearing American flag shorts, though the first report noted a full beard and the second described a man with no facial hair.

According to the university safety warning, the Columbus Division of Police will deploy extra officers to patrol the area while they investigate the reports.
