The Shawshank Redemption came out 25 years ago and still holds up as one of the great movies of all time. So if you’re a Shawshank fan, this news might excite you: Legendary director Frank Darabont is coming to Mansfield, OH, on Aug. 16-18 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the film!
You might not know, but the film was shot in and around Mansfield, so the return to Ohio makes sense for Darabont. He’ll be taking part in festivities like autograph signing and panel discussions about his films.
While this celebration is for Shawshank, don’t forget about Darabont’s other box office hits: The Green Mile (1999), The Mist (2007), A Nightmare on Elm Street (1987), Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein (1994), and, if that’s not enough, he’s also worked on AMC’s The Walking Dead since 2010.
Gather up your friends, find an upperclassman with a car and get your ass out to Mansfield to celebrate Shawshank and Ohio history on Aug. 16-18!
