Rattan Lal is one of Ohio State’s most decorated faculty researchers, and now, he’ll be giving an address to all summer graduates on Aug. 4.
Lal recently received the Japan Prize — which is the country’s equivalent of the Nobel Prize – and donated the $450,000 award to Ohio State. He is currently a Distinguished University Professor of Soil Science in the College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. Lal received his Ph.D from Ohio State in 1968 and joined the university’s faculty in 1987.
Lal follows up Fareed Zakaria, a CNN correspondent and columnist, who was the speaker for 2019 Spring Commencement.
