No one cares about how much Penn State can white out their stadium when OSU students are busy putting together something with a little heart behind it.
That’s right, Bucks. On October 26, Pink Out The Shoe is BACK! Be sure to catch a $10 short sleeve or $15 long sleeve on the Oval from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the week leading up to the game, and from 8 a.m. to noon on gameday.
All proceeds go to the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research, which is currently working on projects like preserving reproductive function in adolescents diagnosed with breast cancer, higher resolution computer images so patients can work with doctors across the country, and the Spielman Genetic Tumor Bank that supports more research every year.
Through online sales alone, Pink Out has already sold 807 shirts. According to marketing chair, Emily Perkins, by Saturday morning gameday, most mediums and larges will be gone. So don’t wait until the last minute!
Last year the group raised over $7,000 for breast cancer research. With a goal every year to sell out completely, this year Pink Out aims to sell 3,500 shirts.
“Everyone knows someone who has been affected by breast cancer. Whether it is a mother, aunt, or grandmother, the list goes on.”
The purpose of Pink Out is to contribute to the annual fund, but also to raise awareness at one October football game every year.
“By buying a shirt, a student or faculty member is making a bigger difference than they could ever know. We recently did a special post on our social media where we had people send in why they Pink Out. I would encourage everyone to go check them out, and bring a box of tissues.”
Get your shirt, get your friends a shirt, and sport all-pink to the Wisconsin game this year to show your support for breast cancer research.
