UPDATE: The win in the B1G tourney secured a spot in the NCAA tournament for the Buckeyes, where they’ll compete in a group with No. 1 Vanderbilt, No. 2 Indiana St., and No. 3 McNeese. Vanderbilt is the No. 2 overall seed in the tournament and will certainly be a tough out, but as Ohio State pitcher Andrew Magno has said: “The Bucks are hot.“
(For clarification, because I know I needed it: Each group/regional of four teams has four seeds. So, Ohio State is the lowest-seeded team in its group. One team from each group will advance. The regionals are double-elimination, so two losses and you’re out.)
Ohio State will take on Vanderbilt on May 31 at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2.
Ohio State baseball clinched a spot in the 2019 NCAA tournament on Sunday by beating out Nebraska in the Big Ten championship game. Ohio State was the lowest-seeded team to ever take home the trophy.
The win marked the Bucks’ 10th Big Ten tournament win in history, and pitcher Andrew Magno took home the tournament’s most outstanding player award.
The NCAA tournament kicks off on May 31, so the Bucks will be back on the diamond before long, but for now, we can celebrate another great accomplishment by an Ohio State team.
