Legendary Ohio State Men’s Volleyball Coach Pete Hanson Retires After 35 Years

Pete Hanson is one of the greatest coaches of all-time in the sport of collegiate men’s volleyball. He’s been a staple at Ohio State for 35 years and has led the team to a streak of dominance that is probably too long to sum up in a sentence or two. And now, he’s finally hanging it up.

Hanson will leave Ohio State as one of the most decorated coaches in school history, but here are the big numbers you need to know: At the helm of Ohio State’s team, Hanson won three national titles (2011, 2016, 2017), third in all-time wins in the NCAA (712), won 18 MIVA regular season titles, and presided over the longest head-to-head winning streak for any team sport in school history (42 straight wins from 2016-2017).
