Last Week In Buckeye Basketball: Week 5

Men’s Basketball

Weekly record: 1-0

Season record: 8-1

Add another conference win to the record for Ohio State, they took down Illinois on Wednesday 77-67. Grad transfer Keyshawn Woods led the team with 18 on the night, big man Kaleb Wesson added 13 and 7 rebounds, and Musa Jallow had one of the best nights of his Buckeye career, picking up a career-high 9 rebounds while putting up 11 points. Forward Andre Wesson was quiet on the night, going 0 of 2 from the field, but put up four points from the line on perfect free throw shooting. The biggest story, though, was about Luther Muhammad, who had recently dislocated his shoulder. In his return to the court, he put up 6 points, 4 boards and an assist.

The team is in the midst of a ten-game break from game action, but their next game will take place on Saturday, Dec. 15 vs. Bucknell.

Women’s Basketball

Weekly record: 0-1

Season record: 3-3

In their lone game this week, the Ohio State women’s team fell to Washington 59-69. Freshman Dorka Juhasz continued to ball, putting up 11 and 6 and grad transfer Makalya Waterman led the team with 11 and 9. Both Janai Crooms and Najah Queenland showed off their defensive prowess with 4 steals apiece, but it proved not to be enough against Washington. Ultimately, the Bucks were out-rebounded, held under 40 percent shooting from the field and had a lead for less than two minutes of the entire game.

The women’s team is also in the midst of a pretty big break in the season, but you can catch them in action on Sunday, Dec. 16 vs. Florida.
