While it might not be as rich in glitz and glamour as the NBA Finals, the NBA Summer League is a valuable stage where hopeful players can show off their skills to NBA front offices and hopefully land a spot on a roster. And this summer, some Buckeyes are already making some noise in the summer league for various teams.
Jae’Sean Tate, Nuggets
Hands up if you miss Jae’Sean at Ohio State. Okay, now that literally everyone’s hands are up, let’s take a look at some of the things Jae’Sean is doing on the court.
In his first summer league action (reminder that he missed last year’s summer league due to a broken finger) of the year, Tate put up 7 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists in 23 minutes. The most exciting part of his night on the court was without a doubt this dunk:
After grabbing the rebound (I think anyways. It was tipped by someone), Tate showed off his motor by taking the ball all the way up the court and straight to the hoop. Should be a familiar sight for Buckeye fans who know all about Tate’s tenacity on the court. The Nuggets beat the Magic 84-79.
Keita Bates-Diop, Timberwolves
All the hype about the Timberwolves might be about Karl-Anthony Towns, but that isn’t to say KBD isn’t doing big things for his squad. The lanky, athletic baller has earned the nickname Keita Bates-THREEop with plays like this:
Bates-Diop finished the game with 11 points and 11 rebounds, along with 2 assists and 2 steals while going 2-of-5 from three. The Timberwolves won 90-66.
