Excessively long winter breaks in college are fun in theory, but in practice, it never feels good going back to being told what to do, where to go, and how to act. If you came back to Columbus early for New Year’s Eve, we totally get it. That’s why we’re rounding up this list of NYE parties near campus for you to ring in the new year! While most campus bars will be open, a few have already started spilling the deats on their deals, plus if you want to get fancy, it never hurts to head downtown.
(Everything on this list is cover-free!)
ETHYL & TANK
One of campus’ crowd favorites has free entry on New Year’s! Ethyl & Tank is offering $15 bottles of champagne (while supplies last), and the option to get real fancy with a table and bottle service for a $200 bottle, split between six friends. There are only seven tables available, so if you’re into it, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
STANDARD HALL & FOOD HALL
To these guys, NYE = GLOW 2020. That means $3 Glow Shots, $5 Makers Mark & Effen, and specials on Moët Ice champagne. Turn your Ladies’ Nights glow-stick selfies into something more extravagant by visiting this place on NYE.
After reopening its doors for renovations this October, Gaswerks is the place to be in 2020. On NYE you can expect live music by TATTAT from 9-11 p.m., and a fun time featuring their new line of arcade games and corn hole inside the space. (Might I recommend their GINORMOUS two-player Space Invaders machine.)
Yes, they carry all of their famous brews in-house, but the Short North’s BrewDog is not a beer-only place to party. On Tuesday they’re featuring Kate’s special New Year’s Eve Punch, and a Punk toast at midnight! (Plus other wine and liquor normally stocked at the bar.) Get there after 9 p.m. to catch the live DJ.
OLD NORTH ARCADE
Tired of getting caught up in conversation about your New Year’s resolutions that surely won’t happen? Go to a party with more entertaining distractions, like Old North Arcade. A quick walk or COTA ride north of campus and boom: you got $15 bottles of champagne, Jell-O shots, and more arcade games than your heart can handle!
