Yet another film that’s expected to dominate the box office makes its way to the theaters. But, it is not alone in what is heading to Gateway this weekend.
Solo: A Star Wars Story – May 24
The origin story of the legendary character of Han Solo finally comes to theaters this weekend, and it looks to answer questions on the character’s past while taking place in a fun action-fantasy setting. Starring Alden Ehrenreich in the titular role alongside Donald Glover, Woody Harrelson and Emilia Clarke, “Solo” looks to continue the franchise’s recent run of critically-successful entries.
The Guardians – May 25
One of the most well-received films of the early year in movies comes as a Gateway exclusive this weekend. “The Guardians” takes place in World War I times and is about women in France who attempt to sustain the farmland. This only causes more issues when the men return in this critically-acclaimed drama directed by Xavier Beauvois.
Oh Lucy! – May 25
Another exclusive only found at Gateway this weekend comes in the shape of “Oh Lucy!,” directed by Atsuko Hirayanagi. This comedy is centered around a woman from Tokyo who finds her alter ego while taking an English class. This film was executive produced by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay looks to bring the laughs to the big screen.
Mary Poppins – May 25
The family classic is back a full 54 years after it’s original release thanks to Gateway’s special showing this weekend. The film, centered around a magical nanny played by Julie Andrews, is full of the right amount of joy to lift anyone’s spirits this coming weekend. The music is iconic, the performances are inspiring, and the film continues to pack the same amount of punch as when it was first released.
