The merc with a mouth is back once again to make a splash at the box office. “Deadpool 2” finds a new director in David Leitch, but still stars Ryan Reynolds, who this time must go up against Cable while attempting to save a kid who doesn’t fully understand his superpowers. Fourth-wall breaks and witty references await.
Disobedience – May 18
Director Sebastian Lelio returns following his Oscar-winning film, “A Fantastic Woman” with yet another groundbreaking premise. The film centers on two women, Rachel McAdams and Rachel Weisz, who once had an attraction to each other as children. Now, the two meet again and look to spark their forbidden love once again.
Ghost Stories – May 18
A British horror film starring Andy Nyman and Martin Freeman, “Ghost Stories” follows a skeptic of the paranormal as he investigates the cases of three hauntings that he looks to decipher as frauds. Instead, he gets wrapped up in everything he once called imaginary. The film looks to tell a compelling story, while also scaring the hell out of its audience.
The Escape – May 18
A movie about living a life you thought you wanted, but ended up regretting, “The Escape” stars Gemma Arterton as a wife who just wants to escape her husband and children, so she takes a one-way trip to Paris. The film looks to hit deep on living out dreams, and is a Gateway exclusive this weekend.
The Wizard of Oz – May 19
One of cinema’s most iconic films is back on the big screen this weekend. In this sensory-friendly event, meaning the volume is kept lower and the lights remain on, “The Wizard of Oz” is back, as Dorothy and Todo are still not in Kansas, as they look to return home. Tickets for the event are free.
