Columbus is a football town, no doubt. That fact was cemented even further today with the announcement that the city would be getting a new AFL team this year.
Anybody here remember the Columbus Destroyers? They were the city’s last AFL franchise, but left in 2008 after the league went bankrupt.
Let’s not focus on the negatives though: Your life already revolves around Saturdays for Buckeye games, right? Cool. Add in your Browns or Bengals (or Steelers. Ugh.) fandom, and your weekends are pretty packed. Now, you can add another day of football to that schedule (because honestly, we can’t get enough football) with this AFL team.
Some Twitter users have already laid out a path to success for the team
While there are some differences between AFL football and, say, college or NFL football, there are definitely worse ideas than stuffing a team with players who are already endeared to the Columbus community.
