If you’re living under a rock, you probably haven’t heard but Ohio State basketball’s season ended on Sunday night after a loss to Houston in the NCAA tournament. This game was important for lots of reasons—in a down year, it was a marker of significant success for the team after losing lots of valuable contributors, it was a win-or-go-home scenario, it had the potential to be one of the biggest upsets in the tournament—but perhaps none are more important than the fact that it was the last game we will ever see of Keyshawn Woods, C.J. Jackson and Joey Lane in a Buckeye uniform.
Veteran guard C.J. Jackson took to Twitter to share a heartfelt sentiment, which might have gotten your waterworks going.
Keyshawn Woods shared his pride in what he was able to do as a transfer player who came looking to get into the NCAA tournament.
And, last but not least, we have Joey Lane.
Joey has become one of the most beloved basketball players in the program’s history. He was a walk-on before being awarded a scholarship, and he was noticeably emotional after the team’s loss to Houston in the tournament.
“The first two years I’m here, we’re not at all what I anticipated … We made something special out of Ohio State and put it back on the map. To put that into words, really, is impossible.”Joey Lane (courtesy of Kevin Noon/Twitter)
…is someone cutting onions?
Campus misses you already, Joey 😭😭😭
