The biggest sporting event in the world kicks off today, regardless if the United States is in it or not (spoiler alert: they are not). Still, the World Cup is a massive sporting event featuring the very best soccer players around the globe, and what better way to spend this event than with drink specials and other crazy soccer fans? So, here are five places you can go to watch the World Cup matches.
Going above and beyond to make sure that they are open for longer hours, the Granero Lounge plans on showing every single game, no matter the time. They will be open as early as 5:30 a.m. when the games start at six, but will open an hour before the first game all other days. Granero Lounge is looking to be the spot all World Cup long, and it will be available for whatever game you choose to show up for.
Every day during the group stage, the Brewery District location of Arepazo Restaurant will be showing the 11 a.m. World Cup game that day. But, even further, it will have a drink special in the form of the Estrella Damm Lager. It may not have every game, but if you want to get that pre-afternoon drinking going, Arepazo is the place to do it for most days in the next three weeks.
Also in the Brewery District, Local Cantina is opening its doors early on opening day today, opening at 10 a.m. to celebrate the first day of the world’s biggest sporting event. It will be showing the Russia-Saudi Arabia matchup, while also having a raffle that you can enter to win prizes, including tickets to an upcoming Columbus Crew game.
Westies will be showing a large portion of the games at its locations, and will open early for many of the 8 and 11 a.m. start times. Westies also has what it calles a two-dollar holler, where you can ask for a holler and someone will grab you a random beer out of a cooler full of some fan-favorite drafts for, you guessed it, two dollars. The schedule of games is listed on the Facebook event, with most games on starting at 11 and 2.
Same event, different location for Westies. The two-dollar holler is still alive and well here, so make sure to pick the location in reach for you, and make sure that Westies is showing the World Cup game that you need to see.
