A duo of comedies, one of the most highly-acclaimed television shows and a Steven Spielberg classic. Here are three of the highlight movies and shows coming to Hulu, Amazon and Netflix in the month of July.
This is Spinal Tap – July 1
Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure – July 1
Justice League – July 7
Starting off the month of July is a pair of gut-wrenching comedies from the 1980s. “This is Spinal Tap” is one of the greatest mockumentaries ever made, and “Bill & Ted’s” is dumb Keanu Reeves at his absolute best. Then, less than a week later, “Justice League” comes through HBO, and you can make your own opinion on if DC movies continue to be underwhelming (they do).
American Psycho – July 1
Max Steel – July 20
The Americans: Season 6 – July 29
Get your fix of young Christian Bale, but also as a potential serial killer in “American Psycho,” which is truly one of Bale’s best performances. Close out the month with “The Americans,” a show about two KGB spies in an arranged marriage that is loved by pretty much everyone. Why did I put “Max Steel” you may be asking, and that is because it is severely underrated for pulling off such a bizarre concept so well.
Jurassic Park – July 1
Orange is the New Black: Season 6 – July 27
Her – July 29
Netflix is bringing out the big guns early with Spielberg’s dinosaur epic, “Jurassic Park”. This film looks as sharp as it did back in 1994, and continues to amaze with each view. Later in the month, one of Netflix’s most popular shows about a female prison comes back for its sixth season. Then, to close out the month, Netflix has Spike Jonze’s “Her,” a stunning look at a future society where a man can fall in love with his phone. Yes, it wounds weird, but it is more beautiful than you can ever imagine.
