Where’s the best place to grab a quick meal? How can you make $10 stretch until your next paycheck? Where do you drunkenly devour food after a night out?
These are the questions that demand answers, and that’s what we’re doing.
This week, Melissa Klein, a senior studying strategic communications and leadership studies, dished out her favorite spots to grab a bite to eat, where her favorite place is to ball out on a dinner, and just how skillful she is with her culinary craft.
You’ve got 10 dollars left in the week and you need one good meal before payday. Where do you spend it?
If you’re flush with cash, what’s a place you feel like splurging on?
Marcella’s. My friends and I like to splurge every once in a while when we need a break from the college life. We dress up and go to a nice dinner in the Short North. We also like to splurge on some of the fun food/bars around the Short North like Standard Hall, Pint House, or Union.
What’s the one campus joint you eat at the most and what do you get? (Be honest)
I get Greek salads and sausage, egg, and cheese [sandwiches] from Buckeye Donuts A LOT. Buckeye Donuts isn’t technically on campus, but I’m sure if you ask any student they’d say the consider it a part of OSU.
Can you cook? What’s your go-to?
Yes, I can cook. One of my new year’s resolutions is to improve my cooking. I really enjoy cooking breakfasts, probably because I always wake up excited to eat. My go-to breakfasts include: veggie hash with two sunny side up eggs, egg sandwich variations, yogurt parfaits, and smoothie bowls. My go-to dinners include: tofu quinoa and baby bok choy, spaghetti squash and turkey meatballs, and teriyaki salmon and veggies.
If you had to eat at one campus spot for an entire school year, where would you pick? This question is so tough! I’m trying to think of somewhere I can get everything. I would say the RPAC. The RPAC on campus has great food and a wide variety.
If you’re eating healthy, what are the best spots and dishes to help you out around campus?
Every dining area on campus has healthy options. The RPAC salads are great and the dining halls can make great custom omelets for breakfast.
What’s your favorite off-campus spot to put in a meal?
I love Nada! Nada Downtown is an amazing Mexican food restaurant. I’ve gone there for many birthday celebrations and it is always a hit.
Where’s the best place to stuff your face after a night of drinking?
Buckeye Donuts or Sicilias!
If your parents are coming to campus to take you out for dinner, where do you go?
Lindeys, Nada, or The Pearl.
If you were taking someone on a first date, where would you take them for dinner?
I would go to Condado or Standard. Both are perfectly in the middle of “getting drinks” but also some food on first date. The atmosphere is fun and you can get good food and drinks.
