Top Six Local Patios to Get Your Drink On

Warm weather makes everyone happy. Drinking usually makes everyone happy. Put the two together and you’ve got a whole lot of happy this summer. Rather than figuring out who’s roof you can easily sit on while slamming beers, why not check out some awesome patios to drink at? Here’s some that you definitely need to get to this summer.

Cazuelas

They’ve moved from their old location just a few blocks north and they’ve got way more patio space! Throughout the week they have all kinds of happy hour deals, ranging from normal hours into late night deals as well. With a ton of different margarita flavors to choose from, what could go wrong? Plus, they include chips and salsa FOR FREE for the table. Bless the fuck up. And on your birthday they give you a free tequila shot and a t-shirt! If you’re a YoPro on a budget who loves a good taco and tequila, Cazuelas is the place for you.

Ethyl and Tank

A bit smaller than Cazuelas, but it’s got that hipster feel to it. They’ve got some sweet high tops on the patio right on 13th and Pearl, making it the perfect people watching spot. The nachos here are some of the best I’ve ever had, but try them out for yourself and you will not be disappointed. With quite the selection of beer on tap, it’s the perfect spot after a long day at the office to unwind and relax. Their main menu can suit anyone, even your friends who insist on eating burgers with their beer or vodka mixers with their salads. Not to mention, there is almost always a few fun drinks for the season on their menu. Everyone in your group chat will find something for them at Ethyl, so text them now and make the plans.

The O’ Patio

It’s in the name that it’s got a patio, so you don’t need any further persuading. It’s perfect for hanging out and enjoying a nice day while under some shade. During the school year, their deal better known as “Beat the Clock” on Fridays can get pretty crazy. But then again, who wouldn’t go crazy for a $2 pitcher of beer? The O’ also has some bomb ass pizza you can fest on while slamming pitchers with your crew. And for those nights where fro whatever reason Ohio decides it’s going to get chilly even though it’s summer, there’s a fire pit to warm up at. This is the place to be if you want to watch the game and hear everyone else yelling about all the bad calls being made. Beer, pizza, TVs with sports on? Ladies, just leave your man here and meet up with them later.

Ugly Tuna

Ugly Hour and an upstairs patio overlooking high street is prime for people watching. With all the construction happening around the central campus area, Ugly Tuna being located in the Gateway allows them to narrowly avoid the worst of it. If you’ve got the type of job where you aren’t off until after 5 and still need to freshen up after work, I recommend heading here for Ugly Hour. $1 wells and $2 doubles from 8-10 p.m. nearly every night leaves no excuse to not go out. Malibu pitchers are another awesome and occasionally deadly drink choice, but it screams summer and fun. And if you get the drunk munchies, Ugly Tuna has some appetizers to suit your taste buds. Of course, if you just need some fried deliciousness, you can always walk right to Cane’s.

Midway on High

With the front patio and occasionally the parking lot open, there’s tons of space to dance around to whatever DJ is playing that day here. Happy hour at Midway will not disappoint with half off everything until 9 p.m. along with from 8-10 p.m. $1 wells, $1 bombs and $2 Budlight bottles. When the parking lot is open, this is the place to be to unwind after a long week at work with your friends. I mean, you’ll probably hear the music from your apartment anyway so you might as well just be a part of it. Subway and a street meat vendor are located ever so conveniently near Midway for when you start to feel those drinks hitting you a little too hard.

Standard Hall

Perfect for happy hour or a Saturday of day drinking, Standard provides a fun, less underage kids using fake IDs vibe everyone can enjoy. Outdoor life size jenga, a beer truck, corn hole and dogs on the patio? It’s a dream in the Short North district. For the hot days that are about to hit us hard, boozy Popsicles are the perfect way to keep your buzz and stay cool. It does get crowded, but that just means it’s the place to be. Standard also has some seriously kick ass food and their brunch Bloody Mary bar is one of the best. Plus, it’s not over run by local high school kids who just graduated and are dying to use their fresh new fake ID.
