There’s a good chance you’re all just about fed up with school right now. You’re already 10 weeks into the semester, but the finish line still seems so far away. You need a break. You need to take your mind off that stack of Jane Austen books you were supposed to read a month ago. Trust me—I feel you. That is why I’m giving you one less thing to worry about by planning a perfect November date night for you and that special someone. Be prepared to treat yourself and your crush this month, because once they meet your psychotic parents this Thanksgiving, you might not get another chance.
Where to Drink: Denmark
If you’re looking to really make your date swoon (do people still say that?), start off your night with cocktails at Denmark. No, not the country—although the price of a flight there might rival your tab by the end of the night. Denmark is the place in Columbus to sip signature cocktails James Bond style, a much needed distraction from your looming student debt, especially when you are sipping on a beverage containing rosemary tincture, maple syrup, local bourbon, pear liqueur, and actual freakin’ smoke. (See: Smoke dat Tree.)
What to Eat: FORNO
Located right in the heart of the Short North’s Arts District, Forno is a can’t-go-wrong option for any date night. Their menu is filled with amazing and fresh options from burgers to stone-fired pizzas to exotic seafood dishes. The decor is contemporary and slightly upscale without making any college couple feel out of place. What truly makes Forno an above and beyond date night destination is their happy hour menu.
Where to Hang: Pins Mechanical Company
Chances are you’ve heard about Pins before, but if you haven’t had a chance to check it out for yourself, make arrangements to do so with your date ASAP. Pins is packed with plenty of things to get passively competitive at, including duckpin bowling (seriously you’ve got to try this), a rainbow variety of colorful pinball machines, ping pong, and foosball. Trust me on this.
