A 57-year-old man from Grandview, Ohio has been collecting a receipt from every purchase, regardless of how minor, since he was a young man.
“I’m just an old fashioned man,” Thomas Wilson said. “I like to see and record where my money is going so that I will not get ripped off later in life.”
Wilson said he has asked for a receipt with every purchase, including $1 purchases from McDonalds, just in case he needs them later in life.
“I was looking through receipts from 2014 when I found one earlier today,” Wilson said. “The old coffee shop that closed down charged me $.50 extra for almond milk that I know I did not get because I don’t like almond milk!”
Wilson said he intends to use the receipt to contact the old owner of the store to get a refund on his order.
“This is something young kids neglect to do because they’re either too lazy to sort through their receipts or too embarrassed to ask for a receipt,” Wilson said. “Maybe they should stop complaining about student loans and start asking for receipts so they can save money.”
